Miwako Kawaminami
Beginning calligraphy in the correspondence course in 1990, and studying calligraphy in earnest under Ms. Mina Shibata at the Japan Calligraphy School in 1994. In addition, Ms. Makiko Odawara's advanced class, studying calligraphy at The MG School of Latin Calligraphy, became an instructor in 1998 after working as an assistant to Ms. Yasuko Matsui and Ms. Chisuko Nakazawa. She has been a lecturer at Japan Calligraphy School and some of culture center in Tokyo, and since 2002 has been a master course instructor at the school. Strive to spread calligraphy in Japan and overseas through active participation in overseas workshops.
In addition to writing calligraphy on paper, she was one of the first to work on woodburning calligraphy, which draws letters on trees and corks, designed Western European and Asian designs such as manuscript decorations and miniatures, and studied contemporary logo art under the guidance of world logo designer Mr. Kohei Miura. Engaged in design in a wide range of fields including learning. She has held solo exhibitions, participated in exhibitions, and received numerous awards and prizes.
Management of the Calligraphy Network, a non-profit organization of 600 calligraphy enthusiasts in the country (2008), Steering Chairman of the Calligraphers Guild (2008), Director of Calligraphy Life Association (Japan Calligraphy School) (2009-2011), currently opening "atelier MoonShell", working as a professional calligrapher, and serving as a director of Non-Profit Organization Japan Letter Arts Forum.
